![]() Richard White spent his early childhood in poverty, at times sleeping in abandoned houses or parks in the city of Baltimore. But what makes his story remarkable is where he came from. He's also the first Black musician in the United States to earn a doctorate in tuba performance and is now a professor of tuba at the University of New Mexico.
